The AXD™ Pressure Sensor: Adaptability for Alternative Fuels

February 20, 2020

Many alternative fuels depend on precise measurements for gage, absolute, or compound pressure. Transducers in some of these applications endure potentially corrosive environments. To keep up with the demands of renewable energy applications, adaptable capacitive sensing technology can measure a variety of pressure types. Alternative fuel applications for the AXD and AXDH sensors are varied and include compression, storage and dispensing systems, hydrogen generators, and hydrogen fuel cell systems used to produce electricity.

Alternative fuels is a broad category encompassing energy sources such as:General_Industrial-Alternative_Fuels-CNG_Distribution

Built for Versatility

The Model AXD industrial pressure sensor is designed to withstand the varied and demanding applications in alternative fuels. IP67 and NEMA 4 ratings, combined with a laser welded construction, makes the AXD a robust sensor that can survive harsh environments. The option for 316L stainless steel wetted material, available for pressures up to 1,000 PSI, means the AXD can be resistant to hydrogen and other corrosive gases.

The AXD can provide precise measurements in any situation thanks to a range of 1 to 10,000 and 0 to -14.7 PSI for gage, compound, and vacuum pressure. With specifically designed diaphragms for each pressure range, the AXD has ±0.25% FS accuracy and a TEB of ±1.5%. Setra's capacitive technology means rugged construction and allows for a high overpressure option up to 10X the rating.
