Controlling a Space with FLEX-RC

May 20, 2019

Building on the strengths of the Setra FLEX, FLEX-RC adds control capability to the monitor and alarming functions. With the added control capability, FLEX-RC can help manage an environment in a number of ways.

Features of the FLEX-RC

FLEX-RC gives the user direct control of equipment, such as air flow dampers and hydronic reheat valves. Direct control eliminates the need for additional third-party controllers on the job. FLEX-RC direct control uses Proportional-Integral (PI) control loops that can be tuned for optimum equipment calibration.

FLEX-RC allows for BACnet setpoint override. When equipment is under control by others, FLEX caSetra-FLEX-Promotion-Hospitaln write new setpoint values to command changes in temperature, humidity, airflow, pressure, or any user defined parameter. BACnet setpoint override also features an override duration and cancel feature. This way the override value can be set to expire at a specific time, enabling energy savings.

These functions of the FLEX-RC apply to any badge available on the home screen. FLEX-RC control can be triggered by any room Profile.

Adaptable for Any Application

In a medical device manufacturing environment, the FLEX-RC can be used to directly control the damper valve that modulates the pressurization in the room. Then, when the room is idle or being cleaned, the end user can reduce the differential pressure setpoint or place the FLEX-RC into standby mode to conserve energy.

In a hospital, FLEX-RC is ideal to control the temperature and setpoint via BACnet. As patients or healthcare professionals want to adjust the temperature to comfortable levels, they simply need to adjust the setpoint via the home screen of the FLEX-RC. Setpoint adjustments can be pre-configured to a certain range and duration, if desired.
