SYSTEMS INTRODUCES The Model 299 is designed to reduce transducer failure in the field caused by humidity migrating down the cable and short circuiting the transducer. Desiccant material contained within the cover captures and condenses moisture, providing a very effective barrier against the ingress of water into the transducer's sensor and electronics. When the desiccant cover is saturated, the user is alerted through the clearly visible desiccant status window, which changes from blue (dry) to pink (saturated). The desiccating cover can be regenerated by baking it in a 200F oven for 3 to 4 hours or until it returns to its dry status (blue). To avoid downtime while the desiccating cover is regenerating, additional covered can be purchased separately. The case is constructed of sturdy plastic glass-filled polycarbonate (UL94AB-0) and provides easy access to terminal connections, and is also NEMA 4X (IP65) rated for indoor and outdoor installations. In addition, to protect the circuit board from lightning strikes, the unit includes integral surge protection from a voltage surge up to 2000 volts.
